Subperiosteal implant placement, from scan to seat.
Day 1 — Patient Selection & Framework Design
Misch-Judy Division D candidates, CAD/CAM framework workflow.
Day 2 — Periosteal Elevation & Site Preparation
Full-thickness elevation, ridge surface preparation on live patients.
Day 3 — Framework Placement
Seat pre-fabricated titanium framework. Fixation screw torque protocol.
Day 4 — Tissue Closure & Recovery
Primary closure, post-op wound management, full surgical log.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify potential candidates for CAD/CAM subperiosteal implant treatment.
- Evaluate severe bone-loss cases using CBCT and digital diagnostic tools.
- Explain the digital workflow from imaging to customized framework design.
- Describe surgical principles related to framework placement, fixation, and closure.
- Recognize restorative and prosthetic considerations.
- Integrate this treatment option into broader implant treatment planning.

Dr. Vega is a Specialist in Advanced General Dentistry (Universidad de Costa Rica) and an instructor in UCR’s postgraduate Advanced General Dentistry program at Hospital San Juan de Dios, where he has practiced since 2011. A member of the Board of Directors of Costa Rica’s Dental Surgeons’ College (CCDCR) and past president of the Costa Rican Association of Advanced General Dentistry, he trains and lectures internationally on full-arch and implant-supported rehabilitation.

Will I operate on live patients?
Yes — this is a live-patient course. You perform supervised implant procedures on real patients, and all clinical training is conducted under the authorization and regulatory authority of the Colegio de Cirujanos Dentistas de Costa Rica (CCDCR) at an authorized facility.
What will I do each day?
